The Canadian Technology Institute for Artificial Research (CTIAR) organizes a wide range of events, including conferences, networking activities, and online discussions related to its conferences (collectively referred to as “conferences and events”). These events aim to advance research, education, and responsible AI usage, fostering a deeper understanding of the field. CTIAR invites participants who promote inclusion and respect for all attendees.

CTIAR is committed to ensuring a respectful and inclusive environment at its conferences and events. Respectful behavior is expected from all community members during these activities. Participants are required to interact in a courteous and considerate manner, regardless of factors such as age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, physical appearance, religious beliefs, differing abilities, or any other characteristic.

CTIAR does not tolerate any form of abusive, racist, sexist, homophobic, or intimidating behavior towards participants, organizers, student volunteers, sponsors, conference staff, or local individuals.

CTIAR strongly discourages any offensive actions, aggressive behavior, or comments that disparage others.

All individuals, organizations, and entities attending CTIAR events must abide by these standards of conduct. CTIAR expects all participants to endorse this code of conduct and actively work to prevent or discourage inappropriate behavior. Everyone should feel empowered to address any disrespectful behavior, either towards themselves or others, and raise awareness of this code. Those asked to cease inappropriate conduct must comply immediately. Sponsors are also expected to adhere to this code in their event participation.

CTIAR representatives are authorized to take any necessary actions to prevent or address violations of this code. This includes, but is not limited to, removing violators from the event, either temporarily or permanently, or contacting local law enforcement if needed.

To report any behavior that violates this code of conduct, please immediately inform a CTIAR representative at the event, or contact (via email or in person) the CTIAR Executive Director or any CTIAR Officer. Complaints will be reviewed by a subcommittee of the Executive Council, and serious matters may be referred to law enforcement. The Executive Council may take actions as deemed appropriate, including terminating membership for anyone found in violation, in accordance with Article VI, Section 6 of the CTIAR Bylaws.
